In summer the house looks gorgeous with almost total coverage of Virginia Creeper which turns a brilliant red in the autumn. The stone flagged hall, with its terracotta wash is a warm background for the fabrics, prints and antiques throughout the house.
Downstairs there is a huge inglenook sitting and breakfast room, for the exclusive use of guests.
Our B&B is only 10 – 15 minutes from Grimsby and the Humber Bank, people are amazed at the almost total silence, with no car noise and virtually no lights anywhere.
In the last 3 years further improvements have been made, mainly to the guest bathrooms, and this is clear to the visitor of our guest house to see.
Our HistoryNicola and Stephen first welcomed guests into their house in 2001, following a major re-fit of the old house, and when children James and Henry had finally flown the nest.
We enjoy meeting visitors, and Stephen especially is in danger of chatting too much!
It’s a house that cries out for visitors with an immediate warm welcoming feeling to it.
Our VisionWe have always enjoyed entertaining friends and relatives at the old Farmhouse so when one suggested we should do it properly as a B and B, it just seemed a natural progression.
Our goal therefore is always to make guests feel they are visiting as a house guest and that they are among friends.
Our target is to plough everything back into the fabric of the house, and to pay great attention to detail.
When we visit other B and B’s we seek out special features that could benefit The Old Farmhouse.
