West Lindsey Churches Festival

April 24, 2014

86 churches are taking part this year in the West Lindsey Churches Festival. Lincolnshire is well known for having one of the finest collection of churches in the country and many of these are situated here in West Lindsey. Over the two weekends we invite you to explore some of our best treasures. One of our best kept secrets can be visited at Stow. The minster, St Mary’s, is one of the most important Saxon parish churches in England and is a treasure trove of beautiful artefacts and architecture. Other fine churches with Saxon origins can also be seen at Cabourne and Swallow.

Take time out and relax in the quiet of a beautiful spiritual building and visit one of the self-nominated ‘quiet’ churches. Choose between Stainfield, Buslingthorpe, Clixby and Usselby in week one and Burton, Brattleby and Ingham in week two.

Many churches will be serving refreshments to help nourish you on your visits. These vary from tea, coffee and biscuits to ploughman lunches, bacon butties and even traditional full cooked English breakfasts.
